Fight Night Barrie: Professional MMA in Ontario
Ontario has produced generations of accomplished mixed martial artists, dedicated coaches and respected combat-sports gyms. What the province needs just as much as talent is a reliable stage where athletes can compete, develop and be seen.
Fight Night Barrie was created to help build that stage.
Promoted by Official Fight Group of Companies, Fight Night Barrie is a professional and amateur mixed martial arts event series based at Sadlon Arena in Barrie, Ontario. Its cards bring established professionals, emerging prospects and developing amateur athletes together in a regulated arena environment.
The first Fight Night Barrie event took place on August 15, 2026. More than 1,200 spectators attended the debut, with premium floor seating and VIP tables selling out. The main event featured Canadian veteran Josh Hill against American opponent Aric Mercado, giving the inaugural card an immediate Canada-versus-USA storyline and an experienced professional headliner.
Hill earned a unanimous-decision victory after three rounds. Elsewhere on the card, fans saw submissions, decisions, late-round stoppages and Cody Adair's explosive 34-second comeback win. The result was not simply a single night of fights. It was proof that Barrie and the surrounding region will support professionally produced MMA.
A platform for Ontario fighters
Fight Night Barrie combines professional and amateur competition on the same card. That structure matters to the growth of Canadian MMA.
Amateur fighters need properly regulated opportunities to gain experience before turning professional. New professionals need credible opponents and consistent activity. Established athletes need meaningful bouts that move their careers forward. Local gyms need events they can bring their teams and supporters to without always travelling across the province or outside Canada.
By establishing a recurring series at Sadlon Arena, Fight Night Barrie is working to create that pathway in Central Ontario.
More than a travelling event
Fight Night Barrie is not designed to arrive in the city once and disappear. Barrie is the home of the series.
That commitment creates opportunities beyond the cage. Local businesses can reach a live regional audience. Fans can follow athletes from early amateur appearances into professional competition.
